Men Black Herran har gett sig fan på att inte gå samma öde till mötes och därför måste hon ena sina gamla kaptener igen: en vampyr, en nekromancer, en orchövding, en krigsgud, en galen alkemist och en piratdrottning. Kan hon ena dem trots deras rivalitet? Kan de glömma hennes svek? Är dessa sju skurkar nog för att besegra en hel armé av fanatiker inställda på total erövring?

Min åsikt om boken: Oj oj, det här kan vara årets bok för min del! Den hade verkligen allt: humor, spänning, intressanta karaktärer, twister och oförutsedda inslag. Vid första anblicken är den som vilken fantasybok som helst: den klassiska kampen mellan det goda och det onda, ljus VS mörker. Men snart inser man att nåt inte riktigt är som det brukar. Det är nämligen det onda som är goda och tvärtom. Skurkarna är de som nu är hjältar och står upp mot förtryck och onödigt lidande. Det tyckte jag var ett roligt och uppfriskande perspektiv att få ta det av. Karaktärerna är verkligen klassiska skurkar, men har ändå goda sidor. Här hade jag väl kunnat breda ut mig angående samhällets förvrängda syn på skurkar och "bad guys" (att de är genomonda och dåliga utan några som helst positiva sidor. Men även Hitler var älskad, trots allt hemskt han gjorde). Det där svartvita synsättet som gör folk naiva och chockade när de upptäcker att någon de känner har gjort nåt dåligt. Världen och det mänskliga psyket funkar inte så. Men jag ska inte djupdyka ner i det, för det är en helt annan diskussion egentligen. 

Hur som, karaktärerna porträtteras på ett bra och skickligt sätt. Man vet direkt ur vems perspektiv man läser utifrån hur just den karaktären tänker, talar och för sig. Jag älskar att få ta del av skurkarnas innerst och alla deras konster i de mörka konsterna. Det är så annorlunda och uppfriskande jämfört med klassiska fantasyböcker om just det goda och det onda. Humorn är klockren. Gillar man inte galghumor och svordomar så lär man nog inte tycka om den här boken, men jag lever för sånt, haha. Den innehåller även hel del blod och anatomiska delar, så är man känslig för sånt ska man nog undvika att läsa den. För mig var det här en underbar läsning och en sjujäklans resa! Jag blev dessutom golvad av slutet, det var inte alls förväntat men jag hoppas verkligen att det kommer en fortsättning, för jag vill veta mer! Jag har googlat och försökt hitta tecken på en fortsättning, men inte hittat nåt så vi får väl se. 

Vill man läsa om ett gäng skurkar med skruvad humor och mörk magi ska man definitivt plocka upp den här boken. Den är så läsvärd!

Story: 40 years ago Black Herran left her bloodthirsty army on the brink of the final victory. She left everything behing and disappeared. Now a new religion is spreading through Essoran, cities and villages are crushed by its force, unprepared and unable to fight. The end seems near.
But Black Herran refuses to meet that end and therefore must gather her old captains again: a vampyre, a necromancer, an orc cheiftain, a war-god, a mad alchemist and a pirate queen. Can she unite them despite their rivalries? Can they forget her betrayal? Are these seven legendary villains even enough to defeat an army of fantatics hell-bent on conquest?

My opinion about the book: Wow, this might be the book of the year for me! It had it all: humor, suspense, interesting characters, twists and unforseen events. At first glance it seems to be like every other fantasy book: the classic battle between good and evil, light and darkness. But soon you realise that its not quite what you first thought. It's namely the bad guys who's the good ones and vice versa. The villains are now heros and fights against oppression and unnecessary suffering. I thought that was a fun and refreshing perspective to take part of. The characters are really classic villains but still have good sides. I could probably talk in depth about our society's deranged view on villains and "bad guys" (that they are evil all the way through and bad without any positive sides. But even Hitler was loved, despite the horrible things he did). That black and white view is what makes people naive and chocked when they discover that someone they know has doen something bad. The world and the human psyche doesn't work like that. But I wont go in depth into that, because that's a discussion for another time.

Anyway, the characters are portrayed in a good and skillful way. You know right away who's perspective you're reading from based on how that character thinks, talks and acts. I loved partaking in the villains inner most being and all their dark arts. It's so different and refreshing compared to classical fantasy books about the good and the bad. The humor is awesome. If you don't like dark humor and cusswords then you might not like this book, but I live for that, haha. It also contains a lot of blood and anatomical parts, so if you're sensitive of that you might want to avoid reading it. For me it was a lovely read and a hell of a journey! I was also floored by the end, it was not what I expected men I really hope there will be a continuation, because I want more! I have googled it and tried to find signs of a sequel but haven't found anything so we'll see.

If you want to read about a bunch of villains with wacky humor and dark magic you should definitely pick up this book. It's worth a read!

Samtidigt sker mystiska saker: en ung munk får visioner och förlorar sin röst, en underjordisk revolution börjar i en liten by och Barry Follett, en legosoldat, leder sitt gäng av marodörer över svår terräng full av jättar och farliga sirener för att leverera det enda som kan skapa ordning i världen.

Min åsikt om boken: Jag visste redan när jag köpte boken att den skulle vara udda men jag visste inte om det var på ett bra eller dåligt sätt. På grund av det högtravande språket har det tagit lite tid för mig att läsa ut den men rent spontant så kan jag ju säga att baksidetexten inte stämmer väl överens med handlingen. Det var inte mycket galenskap, jättar eller sirener med i boken. Gränsen mellan liv och död märktes knappt och den där "revolutionen" var knappt värdig namnet. Jag gillade atmosfären i boken på grund av att det var skitigt, mörkt och för att man fick möta konstiga varelser men jag förstår inte poängen med boken. Vad var syftet med den? Ingen aning! Jag förstod inte heller poängen med karaktären Meg. Varför var hon ens med? Hon tillförde knappt nånting. Jag fattade inte heller munkarnas syfte (utöver det här med oraklet) eller "the Gland" som låg bakom klostret. Marodörerna pratade på ett speciellt sätt som ingen annan gjorde, vilket också kändes... omotiverat. Slutet och crescendot var i princip obefintligt. Boken var inte jättedålig men den var definitivt inte bra heller, så ganska medelmåttig. Det känns som att boken är full av tomma ord utan betydelse. Den förmedlar liksom ingenting. En jätteknepig bok med andra ord.

My opinion about the book: I knew when I bought the book that it was going to be good, I just didn't know if it was going to be weird in a good or a bad way. Because of the stilted way it's written on it took me a while to read and I can say that the text on the back (the summary) is not accurate with the plot. There weren't that much crazy stuff, giants and sirens. The line between life and death was barely noticeable and that "revolution" was not worthy the be called that. I liked the atmosphere in the book because it's gritty, filthy and you got to meet weird creatures but I just don't get the point with the book. What was the purpose with it? I have no idea! I don't understand the point with the character Meg. Why was she even there? She hardly did anything. I don't get the monks' purpose either (besdes the stuff with the oracle) or "the Gland" behind the monastery. The marauders' spoke in a very particular way that no one else did, which really felt... unmotivated. The ending and the crescendo was pretty much non-existent. The book was not really bad but was definitely not great either, just average. It feels like the book is full of empty words without meaning. It just doesn't convey anything. A really weird book in other words.

Witches Steeped in Gold

Handling: Iraya Adair har spenderat sitt liv i en cell. Hon är arvinge till en störtad dynasti med magiska förmågor och hon lever i exil. Men varje dag för henne närmare mot frihet och hämnd.

Jazmyne Cariot växte upp klädd i guld med stulen magi i sina fingrar. Hon är dotter till den självutnämnda doyennen och hennes existens är ett hot mot hennes mammas styre. Men Jazmyne har inga planer på att dö.

Två svurna fiender allierar sig med varandra för att störta kvinnan som hotar båda deras världar. Men hämnd är en blodig sport och inget är säkert, förutom hur lång både Iraya och Jazmyne kan tänka sig att gå för att nå sitt mål.

Min åsikt om boken: Jag ville så gärna tycka om den här boken men det blev tyvärr inte så. Allt med den är problematiskt, men jag ska ändå försöka förklara vad och varför. För det första är Iraya och Jazmyne i princip samma person. Det känns så i alla fall när man läser boken. Kapitlen varvar mellan dem och det märks ingen skillnad på dem. Har man inte stenkoll vem kapitlet handlar om, så vet man inte ens vem man läser om/som. De saknar djup och känns så himla platta. För det andra tycker jag att språket i sig var konstigt. Det är som att man har suttit med en synonymbok och försökt hitta så många konstiga ord som möjligt för att undvika upprepningar, men istället blev allt väldigt pretentiöst. För det tredje känns både världen i sig och bakgrundshistorien väldigt otydlig. Jag vet inte alls varför Irayas och Jazmynes "ordrar" är så emot varandra. Jag förstår inte heller varför de måste ha guld på sig för att kunna använda magi medan de ibland inte alls verkar behöva det? Väldigt förvirrande. För det fjärde var flera karaktärer helt ologiska i sina handlingar utan förklaring. Handlingen i sig var också extremt seg och jag förstår inte varför boken är så lång? För det femte så allierar sig inte Iraya och Jazmyne direkt heller. De har knappt några dialoger alls med varandra.
Det är väl lite av det jag kommer på just nu som gjorde att boken verkligen inte var i min smak. Jag googlade lite förut för att se vad andra tyckte och jag är inte ensam om de här åsikterna. Jag förstår inte heller varför den anses vara "jamaikansk fantasy" när det enda som står ut är att karaktärerna säger "mon". Annars är det som vilken fantasybok som helst men utspelar sig på en ö. Sticker inte direkt ut nånstans och är rätt klyschig. Dock är det kanske grejen med förfäderna som anses jamaikanskt men det var inte jättetydligt direkt. Jag kan säga att jag höll på att tappa läslusten efter halva boken...

Tyvärr blir det ett ganska lågt betyg, den får inte mer än 1.5 av 5💀

Sworn enemies, the two enter a deadly alliance to take down the woman who threatens both their worlds. But revenge is a bloody pursuit, and nothing is certain - except the lengths Iraya and Jazmyne will go to win this game.

My opinion about the book: I really wanted to like this book but in the end I just couldn't. Everything with it is problematic, but I'll try to explain what and why. First of all Iraya and Jazmyne is pretty much the same person. Atleast that's what it feels like reading the book. The chapters alternates between them and there's no difference between them. If you don't keep a very close eye to who the chapter is about you have no idea who you're reading about/as. They have no depth and felt so flat. Second of all I think the writing was weird. It was like the author had a book of synonoms and tried to find the weirdest words as possible to avoid repitition but instead it just made everything pretentious. Third of all the world and the background story felt very unclear. I don't know why Iraya's and Jazmyne's "orders" were so against each other. I don't understand why they must have gold on them to use magic either, while others could use magic without it? Very confusing. Fourth of all there were several characters that were so illogical with their actions for no reason. The plot itself was so slow and I don't understand why the book is so long? Fifth of all, Iraya and Jazmyne doesn't really become allies. They barely have any dialogues with each other.
That's what I can come up with right know that made the book not my cup of tea. I googled it before to see what others thought about it and I'm not the only one with these opinions. I don't get why it's called a "jamaican fantasy" when the only thing that stands out is that the characters say "mon". Otherwise it's like every other fantasy book but takes place on an island. Doesn't stand out at all and is pretty cliché. Maybe it's the things with the ancestors that can be regarded as jamaican but it's not obvious. I almost ended up in a sleading slump after half the book...

Handling: Darrow är en ung gruvarbetare i en underjordisk koloni på Mars. Hans uppgift är att borra efter helium-3 som är avgörande för att göra planetens yta beboelig. Darrow, en av de Röda, vet att de är mänsklighetens sista hopp.
Tills han en dag upptäcker att de lever i en lögn...

Min åsikt om boken: Det här är en av de få scifiböcker jag har läst, då jag generellt är skeptisk till dem. Jag älskar scififilmer men av någon anledning känns det inte lika bra i bokform. Men jag blev glatt överraskad! Redan får början var handlingen spännande och intressant. Allt känns välbalanserat, uttänkt och naturligt. Jag ifrågasätter knappt något som händer, just för att det känns så naturligt. Det känns verkligen som att man är där på plats när allt händer. Sidorna bara flög förbi och plötsligt var boken slut... Jag kan inte nämna så mycket ur boken utan att spoila så jag får vara lite vag och kort, men jag gillade hur allt var uppbyggt med klasser och liknande. Det känns troligt och bakgrunden till det hela kändes intressant, även om man inte fick reda på precis allt.

Det enda jag störde mig på lite i början av handlingen var att nästan alla kvinnor beskrevs som vackra medan männen var mer neutrala. Jag tycker det är väldigt klyschigt och irriterande, har vi inte kommit längre? Kvinnor är bara till för att se bra ut i princip, tänkte jag. Det försvann dock senare, vilket jag är glad för. Jag har dock hört att andra har varit kritiska mot en viss karaktärs utveckling (eller vad jag ska kalla det utan att spoila) och att det är det enda som driver Darrow. På ett sätt kan jag hålla med. Att karaktären bara var med för det men samtidigt kan jag förstå tankegången hos författaren. Det finns väl få saker som kan driva en att göra saker som anhöriga och deras öden/handlingar.

Utöver det kändes handlingen som en mix mellan Game of Thrones, The Hunger Games och science fiction. Dock är boken tillräckligt originell för att inte kännas som en kopia av något annat. Jag gillade den väldigt mycket och ser fram emot att läsa övriga böcker!

Story: Darrow is a young mine worker in an underground colony on Mars. His job is to drill for helium-3, which is crucial to make the planet's surface habitable. Darrow, one of the Red, knows they are the last hope of humanity.
Until he one day discovers that it's all a lie...

My opinion about the book: This is one of the few science fiction books I've read because I'm a bit skeptical to them. I love science fiction movies but for some reason it doesn't feel as good in book form. But I was pleasently surprised! From the beginning the plot was suspenseful and interesting. Everything felt well balanced, well thought through and natural. I hardly question anything that happens, because it felt natural. It feels like you're there when everything happens. The pages just flew by and all of a sudden the book was finished... I can't mention that much from the book without spoiling so I have to be a bit avgue and short, but I like how everything was built up by classes and such. It felt believable and the background to it all was interesting, even though you didn't get to know exactly everything.

The only thing that bothered me in the beginning was that almost every woman was described as beautiful while the men were more neutral. I think that's pretty clichéd and annoying, haven't we come farther than that? Women exist to look good pretty much. That went away further along the way, which I'm happy about. I've heard others being critical to a certain character's development (or whatever I should call it without spoiling) and that that is the only thing that keeps Darrow going. I agree to some extent. That this character was there just for that but at the same time I get the thought process by the author. There are few things in the world that can motivate you as much as relative and their fate/actions.

Besides that the plot felt like a mix of Game of Thrones, The Hunger Games and science fiction. The book is original enough to not feel like a copy of something. I liked it a lot and really look forward to read the rest of the books!

Beasts Made of Night.

Handling: I den instängda staden Kos är renhet bland det viktigaste men att rena synder kostar. Korrupta magiker kan extrahera synder från människor och de tar sig en form av dödliga syndbestar som skapas av syndarens skam. Unga syndätare som kallas för aki kallas in för att ta död på bestarna.
Taj är en 17-årig aki som försöker ta hand om sin familj så gott han kan. Han blir kallad till palatset för att äta en syndbest men saker och ting går inte riktigt som han hade tänkt sig. Snart inser han att en konspiration finns i palatset och han måste göra vad han kan för att inte bara rädda sitt eget liv utan hela staden.

Min åsikt om boken: Texten ovan beskriver inte handlingen speciellt bra. För jag tyckte inte att det fanns en så tydlig röd tråd, som det låter som att den har i beskrivningen av boken.
Varning för potentiella spoilers! Det är svårt att förklara varför jag tycker det utan att nämna vissa händelser, men jag kan ju på så sätt också råka spoila nåt (även om jag verkligen inte kommer avslöja något avgörande!).
Taj går till palatset två gånger och det är första vid andra tillfället som något skumt händer. Men svängen som kommer efter det är så ologisk och man får ingen förklaring till det. Det händer flera gånger i boken. Karaktärer som beter sig på ett vis svänger helt plötsligt om och beter sig tvärtemot, helt utan orsak. Jag förstår liksom inte vad som händer eller varför. Handlingen i sig är spretig också. Man får inte någon förklaring till varför t.ex. renhet är så viktigt i Kos eller för den kungliga familjen. Man får inte heller någon förklaring till varför syndbestarna har blivit som de har, när de en gång i tiden bestod av ljus. Ju fler synder som samlas på ett ställe desto större chans är det att ännu större bestar kommer och förgör en hel stad. Det får man ingen förklaring till. Vad är dem för nåt? Varför lockas de av synder? Varför blir människor sjuka av vissa synder? Varför får aki märken på kroppen efter att ha ätit en synd?
Det var så mycket som fattades bara i handlingen att det blev något förvirrande ibland. Sedan är karaktärerna helt utan djup. Man får förklarat för sig vad de känner och tycker, istället för att uppleva det genom dem i handlingen. Allt känns väldigt platt. Jag kände ingen direkt större spänning eller engagemang i handlingen. Det var för mycket som inte förklarades för mig för att jag skulle kunna investera nåt i boken. Handlingen är också ganska seg. Det är först runt kapitel 10-11 som nåt börjar hända. Innan dess är det mest blaha. Inget som riktigt förklarar hur världen är uppbyggd mer än på ytan. Handlingen kändes väldigt planlös och jag förstod inte var det skulle ta vägen. 

Det jag gillade var Taj. Han försöker trots allt göra det han tycker är rätt och han är mån om sina vänner och familj. Samtidigt har han en önskan om att förändra världen och göra den bättre. Det tycker jag är fina egenskaper men det väger tyvärr inte upp för allt det andra.

Story: In the walled city of Kos purity is exalted, but cleansing wrong-doings comes at a cost. Corrupt Mages can migically extract sin from a sinner in the form of sin beasts - lethal creatures spawned from feelings of guilt. Young sin-eaters, known as aki, are called in by Mages to slay the beasts.
17 year old Taj is an aki trying to take care of his family as best as he can. He is called to the palace to eat a sin beast but things don't go as he expected. Soon he realises that there's a conspiracy in the palace and he must do whatever he can to save his own life but also the entire city.

My opinion about the book: The text above doesn't describe the plot well. I thought that there was no read thread as it sounds like it has in the description above.
Warning for potential spoilers! It's hard to describe why I think that without mentioning some events, but I could also spoil something (even though I wont reveal massive events of course!).
Taj enters the palace twice and it's not until the second time something weird happens. But the twist that comes is so illogical and you get no explanation för it. That happens multiple times in the book. Characters who act one way all of a sudden change and act the complete opposite for no reason. I just didn't understand what was happening or why.  The plot is also incoherent. You don't get any explanation as to why purity is so important in Kos or the to royal family. No explanation as to why sin beasts are the way they are, when they once were made of light. The more sins in one place the bigger the chance that another bigger beast comes and destroyes the city. No explanation to that. What are they? Why are they attracted to sins? Why do some people get sick by sins? Why do akis' get marks on their bodies after eating a sin?
There's just too much missing in the plot that it gets confusing at times. Then there's also the characters. They lack depth. You get told what they think and feel instead of actually experiencing it through the characters within the story. Everything felt very flat. I didn't feel any suspense or engagement in the story. There were too much that was not explained which prohibitated me from investing anything in the book. The plot was a bit tardy too. It was first around chapter 10-11 that something actually happened. Before that it was just a bunch of bla bla. Nothing that really explained how the world was built more than on the surfice. The plot felt aimless and I had no idea where it was going.

What I liked was Taj. He tries to do what is right and he is keen on taking care of his friends and family. At the same time he wants to change the world and make it better. I think that is very nice, but it's not enough to outweigh everything else.

Handling: Mattie bor i en enslig stuga uppe på ett berg tillsammans med William. Hon kan inte minnas ett liv innan dess. Varje dag måste hon se till att inte göra William arg eller upprörd.
En dag upptäcker hon ett stympat rävlik i skogen och hon inser att de inte är ensamma längre. Något gömmer sig bland träden och konstiga skrik hörs om nätterna. Något stort med vassa tänder och klor.
Plötsligt dyker tre vandrare upp på berget för att leta efter den här varelsen och Mattie vet att allt kommer att sluta väldigt dåligt. Deras närvaro kommer att göra William väldigt arg och hemska saker händer när han är arg.

Min åsikt om boken: Det här var som en rätt bra skräckfilm faktiskt. Det är mycket som inte stämmer, mer än det man ser på ytan. Först tror man att det handlar om Mattie och varelsen men sedan inser man att det är något konstigt med William också. Jag tycker att karaktärerna var väldigt bra gestaltade för jag hatade William så jäkla mycket. Jag ville bara att han skulle plågas och dö en långsam död i princip. Mattie tycker jag också var bra gestaltad, men stundtals var hennes tankegångar lite för upprepande. Det blev lite tjatigt emellanåt, men samtidigt kan jag förstå det pga hennes bakgrund och tillvaro.
Överlag var boken väldigt spännande. Den är både fartfylld och stillsam på samma gång, vilket man bara kan förstå om man läser den. Varelsen i skogen ger en extra dimension till handlingen men jag hade velat få veta vad det var! Och slutet var extremt abrupt. Det tyckte jag var lite antiklimatiskt, speciellt efter den uppbyggda spänningen. Jag gillar inte tvära slut, jag vill få följa med i själva upplösningen för att kunna pusta ut och känna att det ordnade sig till sist ändå. Men så blev det inte. Christina Henry är bra på att skriva om människors mörka sidor och skyggar inte för att ta till äckliga/blodiga saker, något jag faktiskt uppskattar. Det känns mer realistiskt då. Dock är hon också bra på att inte överdriva det, för det är inte heller trevligt. En mycket bra bok och författare!

Story: Mattie can't remember a time before she and William lived alone on a mountain together. She must never make him upset. But when Mattie discovers a mutilated body of a fox in the woods, she realizes that they're not alone after all.
There's something in the woods that wasn't there before, something that makes strange cries in the night, something with sharp teeth and claws.
When three strangers appears on the mountaintop looking for the creature in the woods, Mattie knows their presence will anger William. Terrible things happen when William is angry.

My opnion about the book: This was like a good horror movie actually. There's a lot that doesn't add up than what you first thought. You think it's about Mattie and the creature but then you realise that there's something strange with William as well. I think the characters are well portrayed because I hated William so much. I just wanted him to suffer and die a slow death. Mattie was also well portrayed but at times her thinking were a bit repetetive. It became nagging at times, but at the same time I can understand why considering her background and her life.
Overall the book was very suspenseful. It's both fast-paced and sedated, which you only can understand if you read it. The creature in the woods gives an extra dimension to the plot but I would have liked to know what it was! And the ending was too abrupt. I thought it was a bit anticlimatic, especially after all the suspense being built up. I don't like abrupt endings, because I want to follow it all the way through and feel like it all went well despite everything. But nope, not this time. Christina Henry is really good at writing about the dark side of people and does not shy away from adding disgusting/bloody things, something I appreciate. It feels more realistic that way. But she is also very good at not exaggerating it too, because that's not very pleasent either. A very good book and author!

Av rädsla för att bli mer ett monster än en människa konsumerar hon bara livsenergi när hon måste och då endast från män skyldiga till hemska brott.
När Miyoung hittar Jihoon, en stilig kille i hennes ålder, blir han attackerad av ett troll i skogen och hon räddar honom. Hon bryter sin mammas regler angående överlevnad. Men mitt i fighten förlorar hon sin rävpärla - sin gumihosjäl - vilket sätter igång en hel kedja av händelser och drar in både Jihoon och Miyoung i en fejd som spänner över generationer. Miyoung tvingas välja mellan sitt odödliga liv och Jihoons.

Min åsikt om boken: Boken är inspirerad av K-drama och koreansk folktro, två saker jag inte har så bra koll på, så jag kan inte säga så mycket om just det. Däremot tyckte jag att den var både intressant och kul att läsa! Den kändes lite annorlunda på nåt sätt, även om den bitvis innehåller typiska delar av tonårsdrama, men det hör väl till genren antar jag.
Både Miyoung och Jihoon har mycket gemensamt, utan att själva veta om det i början. Båda vet hur det känns att bli övergivna och försöka dölja vilka de är. Båda försöker göra så gott det kan och visar upp en fasad mot omgivningen som inte riktigt stämmer. Trots att de är så olika är de ändå ganska lika varandra! Jag tyckte det ändå var ganska snyggt gjort på ett underliggande sätt.
En bit före slutet blev handlingen lite seg och det kändes som att man försökte dra ut på det så långt det gick, vilket tyvärr drog ner lite på både tempot och spänningen. Men överlag tyckte jag boken var både kul, spännande och lättläst. Det gick snabbt att läsa den och stundtals var det svårt att lägga den ifrån sig.

But in the midst of the fight, Miyoung loses her fox bead - her gumiho sould - setting off a chain of events that ensnares both her and Ihoon in a deadly generations-old feud, which forces Miyoung to choose between her immortal life and Jihoon's.

My opinion about the book: The book is inspired by K-dramas and korean folklore, two things I don't know much about so I can't say much about that. But I do think the book was both interesting and fun to read! It fel a bit different in a way, even though there are bits of typical teenage dramas in it, but I guess it's falls within the genre.
Both Miyoung and Jihoon have a lot in common, without them knowing it in the beginning. Both know what it's like to be abandoned and hide who they are. Both try to do as well as they can and have a facade of being alright when really they're not. Despite being so different they're quite similar. I thought that was well done in a underlying way.
Shortly before the end the plot gets a bit slow and it felt like they were trying to drag it out as fas as possible, which slowed down the tempo and suspense, unfortunately. But over all I think the book was fun, exciting and easily read. It was a fast read and at times it was hard to put it down.

Handling: Piranesi lever i Huset med tusen hallar, tidvatten, moln, fiskar och fåglar. För honom är det Världen. I sina anteckningsböcker skriver han upp vad han gör på dagarna och två gånger i veckan träffar han "The Other". Ibland går han till de döda med mat och blommor. Dagarna är sig lika men plötsligt börjar mystiska meddelanden dyka upp, skrivna med krita. Det är någon ny i Huset men vem? Är det någon att lita på eller någon som vill en illa, som "The Other" påstår?
Försvunna anteckningar måste hittas och hemligheter måste avslöjas. Världen som Piranesi trodde sig känna verkar plötsligt väldigt udda och farlig.

Min åsikt om boken: Den första delen av boken är väldigt förvirrande, i alla fall för mig. Jag hade svårt att få grepp på alla hallar och statyer, så förstod inte mycket i början. Det tog en stund innan jag förstod vad som pågick men ju fler pusselbitar man fick, desto mer logisk blev handlingen. Det gick från total förvirring till flera "aha!"-upplevelser. Jag störde mig lite på hur Piranesi skrev, för det var stora bokstäver mitt i meningar och jag förstod inte riktigt syftet med det. Men efter ett tag vande jag mig. Huset i sig verkar väldigt häftigt och intressant, för den är så udda. Det är en ganska originell bok och jag undrade flera gånger hur författaren ens kom på idén. Jag tyckte Piranesi var en väldigt fin karaktär med bra kvalitéer. Han var lugn, respektfull och godhjärtad men samtidigt naiv och ganska "låst" i sitt tänkande. Jag gillade dock att han var ganska vetenskapligt lagd. Han gillar att studera saker och se mönster. Det är nåt jag kan känna igen mig i.

Överlag tyckte jag att handlingen var spännande, speciellt när man kommit in i handlingen en del och börjat få de första ledtrådarna. Men slutet tyckte jag var ganska antiklimatiskt. Det kändes för lågmält för boken, lite som att det rann ut i sanden på nåt sätt. Jag kände mig lite snuvad. Men å andra sidan är detta en ganska annorlunda bok, så man kanske inte ska förvänta sig nånting egentligen.

Story: Piranesi lives in the House with a thousand halls, tides, clouds, fish and birds. To him it is the World. In his notebooks he's written about that he does during the day and two times a week he meets up with "The Other". Sometimes he brings food and flowers to the dead. The days are alike but suddenly strange messages appears, written in chalk. There's someone new in the house but who? Is it someone to trust or someone malicious, like "The Other" says?
Lost notes must be found and secrets revealed. The World that Piranesi thought he knew now seem so strange and dangerous.

My opinion about the book: The first part of the book was very confusing, for me at least. I had a hard time getting a grip on all the halls and statues, so didn't understand a lot in the beginning. It took me a while to understand what was happening but the more puzzle pieces you got, the more it all made sense. It went from total confusion to several "aha!" moments. I was a bit annoyed with the way Piranesi wrote, with capital letters in the middle of sentences, because I didn't see the purpose of it. But after a while I got used to it. The house seem really cool and interesting because it's so weird. This is a pretty original book and I wondered several times where the author got the idea from. I thought Piranesi was a nice character with good qualities. He was calm, respectful and had a good heart but at the same time a bit naïve and "stuck" in his thinking. I did like that he was very scientific. He liked to study things and look at patterns. I can relate to that.

Over all I think the book was suspenseful, especially after reading a while until the clues starts coming. But I found the end to be a bit anticlimatic. It felt too low-key for this book, like it just slowly ebbed away. But on the other hand it's a pretty strange book, so maybe you shouldn't expect anything really.

Starfell - Willow Moss and the Vanished Kingdom

Handling: Willow Moss ska börja i en skola med vanliga barn men hon är väldigt misstänksam mot denna förändring. Varför tillåter Bröderna Wol att magiska barn blandas med de utan magi? Hon vet att något är i görningen, men ingen tror på henne.
I klassrummet träffar hon på pojken Peg och tjejen Twist, som kan styra nordanvinden. Snart inser alla tre var som är på gång och de bestämmer sig för att stoppa deras ärkefiende, men hur ska de ta sig till för att göra det? Först måste de leta upp ett försvunnet rike och sedan måste de lokalisera en speciell stav, allt innan fienden hinner före dem.

Min åsikt om boken: Jag fullkomligt älskar de här böckerna! De är så roliga, knäppa och mysiga. Illustrationerna är fantastiska och förgyller verkligen läsupplevelsen. Jag älskar också att texttypen ändras beroende på vem som pratar (när det gäller vissa karaktärer, alltså inte alla eller hela tiden). Det gör det hela ännu roligare. Handlingen var spännande och höll ett högt tempo redan från starten och jag älskar att få följa med Willow när hon träffar sina vänner, för hon känner så många olika typer av folk. Sedan är Willow som karaktär väldigt mysig. Hon är envis och tror på sig själv, även när ingen annan gör det. Hon är snäll och mån om att göra det som är rätt. Sen älskar jag hennes kompanjon kobolden Oswin (ett monster från "under sängen"), för han är lite tvär och lat men väldigt söt. Jag gillar också att man får utforska mer av Starfellvärlden och möta olika typer av varelser men också får lite mer bakgrundsinfo till riken som har funnits och liknande.
Jag har inget negativt att säga om den här boken eller serien. Jag har älskat varenda bok hittills och ser verkligen fram emot nästa!

Story: Willow Moss is starting school with ordinary children, but she is very suspicious of this change. Why would the Brothers of Wol let magical children be mixed with those without magic? She knows something is up but no one believes her.
In the classroom she meets the boy Peg and the girl Twist, who can control the northern wind. Soon they realise that something is wrong and they decide to stop their arch nemesis, but how? They first need to find a vanished kungdom and then localize a magical staff before their enemy does.

My opinion about the book: I just love these books! They are fun, quirky and so cosy. The illustrations are amazing and really hightens the reading experience. I also love that the text fonts change depending who's talking (for some characters, but not for everyone or all the time). It really makes it a lot more fun. The plot was suspenseful and had a high pace from the start and I love to follow Willow when she meets her friends, because she knows so many different types of people. Willow is also a very nice characters. She's stubborn and believes in herself, despite no one else doing it. She's king and wants to do what is right. I also love her companion the kobold Oswin (a monster from "under the bed"), he's a bit grumpy and lazy but very cute. I also like that you get to explore more of the Starfell world and meet different kinds of creatures but also to get more background information about different kungdoms and such.
I have nothing negative to say about this book or series. I have loved every book so far and really look forward to the next one!

David Mogo Godhunter

Handling: David Mogo är en halvgud och bor tillsammans med en gammal, vresig trollkarl i Lagos, Nigeria. För ett antal år sedan hände något märkligt, gudar och godlings (midre och svagare typer av gudar/varelser) föll från himlen och invaderade landet. Davids "jobb" är i princip att fånga gudar och godlings mot betalning. En dag får han i uppdrag att fånga två tvillinggudar och föra dem till en av Lagos mest kraftfullaste trollkarlar. Det borde ju inte vara så svårt, eller hur?
Men inom kort får David en dålig känsla i magen och det är startskottet på ett förödande kaos...

Min åsikt om boken: Jag vill först börja med att säga att jag tycker det är viktigt att läsa böcker som kommer från andra länder än europeiska och från USA, men den här boken var inte alltid så lätt att förstå. Papa Udi (ibland Payu) talar nån sorts dialektal engelska (nigerisk engelska?) som är jättesvår att förstå. Vissa dialoger hängde jag inte med i alls och jag förstår inte varför författare envisas med att ha med dialoger som kräver speciella språkkunskaper? Det är ju dumt. Man kan inte räkna med att vem som helst kan läsa ens bok om man gör så och jag tycker inte heller att man ska behöva googla eller lära sig ett nytt språk för att kunna läsa en bok. Jag ska ta med ett exempel (sid 83) för att visa vad jag menar:
"And that kain talk, I no wan dey hear am for my ear," Papa Udi says. "But the boy - na small boy then, short like this, can raise shoulder, ehn? Anyway, he go dey pepper me with question. I go say, 'I no know, shey your Papa na practitioner, na Baálè? Go ask am.' But the boy go pepper me, then him go steal my things go dey mix for house." He clicks the back of his tongue in disgust. "No be with my name pessin go dey do that nonsense. I send am commot fast fast."
He trows in another heap of garlic, continues: "Me, I don see this kain thing before. I no wan hear say any repeat dey happen".
Jag fattar väl kanske 70% av vad som menas, men jag får ju gissa mig till det. Helt säker är jag definitivt inte och sånt här krånglar bara till det för läsaren. Jag tycker inte det ger karaktären mer personlighet eller liv, det blir bara drygt och jobbigt.

Utöver det ovan tyckte jag ändå boken var fascinerande, men lite förvirrande. Det är många okända ord som förekommer utan närmare förklaring så det är svårt att skapa sig en bild av handlingen. David Mogo är en sympatisk och härlig karaktär dock, jag gillade honom väldigt mycket. Han försöker göra det bästa för sig själv och Papa Udi samtidigt som han ändå bryr sig om andra. Det var svårt att se var handlingen skulle ta vägen, så blev definitivt överraskad ett par gånger. Man tror först att boken handlar om uppdraget att fånga de här tvillinggudarna, men snart inser man att nä, det finns mycket som pågår och kan utvecklas.

Överlag skulle jag säga att boken var helt ok. Dialogerna drog ner lite på upplevelsen men inte tillräckligt för att förstöra för en helt.

Story: David Mogo is a demigod and lives with and old, grumpy wizard in Lagos, Nigeria. A couple of years ago something strange happened, gods and godlings (lesser and weaker kind of gods/creatures) fell from heaven and invaded the country. David's "jobb" is to capture gods and godlings for money. One day he gets a mission to capture two twin gods and bring them to one of Lagos' most powerful wizards. It shouldn't be so hard, right?
But before long David gets a bad feeling and that is the beginning of a devastating chaos...

My opinion about the book: First, I want to say that I think it's important to read books from other countries than european ones and USA, but this book was not always easy to understand. Papa Udi (sometimes Payu) speaks some kind of dialectal english (nigerian english?) that is really hard to understand. I didn't understand some dialogues at all and I just dont understand why authors insists on having dialogues that requires special language skills? It's stupid. You can't count on that everyone can read your book if you do that and I don't think people should have to google or learn a new language just so read a book. Here's an example of what I mean (page 83):
"And that kain talk, I no wan dey hear am for my ear," Papa Udi says. "But the boy - na small boy then, short like this, can raise shoulder, ehn? Anyway, he go dey pepper me with question. I go say, 'I no know, shey your Papa na practitioner, na Baálè? Go ask am.' But the boy go pepper me, then him go steal my things go dey mix for house." He clicks the back of his tongue in disgust. "No be with my name pessin go dey do that nonsense. I send am commot fast fast."
He trows in another heap of garlic, continues: "Me, I don see this kain thing before. I no wan hear say any repeat dey happen".
I might have understood like 70% of what they meant but I still have to guess what it means. I'm not 100% sure of it and this just makes it more troublesome for the reader. I don't think it gives the character more personality or depth, it's just cumbersome.

Besides that I think the book was fascinating but a but confusing. There were many unknown words without any explanation so it was hard to get a grips of the plot. David Mogo is a very sympathetic and lovely character though, I really liked him. He tried to do what was best for himself and Papa Udi, but he also cared about other people. It was hard to expect where the plot was going, so there came a couple for surprises along the way. You first think the book is about the capture of these twin gods, but soon you realise that no, there's a lot going on that can be developed.

Over all I'd say this book was alright. The dialogues brought down the experience a little but not enough to ruin it all together.

Handling: Fjerda planerar att invadera Ravka och göra slut på Grisharikets självständighet men demonkungen Nikolai Lantsov tänker inte ge upp så lätt. Trots att Ravka inte har samma militära makt tänker han ta till alla knep han kan för att försvara både sitt rike och sitt folk. 

Stormhäxan Zoya Nazyalensky har fått betala ett högt pris under krigets gång. Hon har sett sina soldater dö och hennes värsta fiende återuppstånden. Hon vägrar att begrava ännu en vän till. Men nu krävs det att hon omfamnar sina nya krafter för att bli det vapen hennes land behöver, oavsett kostnad.

Soldaten och spionen Nina Zenik är under täckmantel i Fjerda, där hon riskerar både tortyr och döden ifall hon upptäcks. Hon gör allt hon kan för att sabotera för landet som försöker utplåna hennes folk, men om hon inte är försiktig riskerar hon att sätta allas liv på spel.

Min åsikt om boken: Jag har varit seg på ett läsa just nu, på grund av hjärntrötthet (ME) och Animal Crossing. Men jag var väldigt skeptisk mot "King of Scars" (första boken) så hade inte höga förväntningar på denna. Första boken tyckte jag var ganska medelmåttig, jag minns inte exakt varför men jag har för mig att jag inte fick nån vidare kontakt med karaktärerna. De kändes platta och arroganta. Jag vet inte om handlingen kanske inte var så bra heller. Minns som sagt mest att jag inte tyckte boken var så bra (förstod inte vad alla hyllningar handlade om).
Så jag blev mäkta förvånad över hur indragen jag blev i den här boken! Jag hade jättesvårt att lägga den ifrån mig. Karaktärerna var både underhållande, sympatiska och hade ett ordentligt djup till sig. Ibland var det lite tjatigt när samma känslor och tankar togs upp med jämna mellanrum, men överlag tyckte jag att den var riktigt bra. Spänningen höll i sig genom hela boken och det kom twistar som man inte alls var beredd på. Jag gillar också blandningen av olika riken, där karaktärer från andra böcker dök upp men också att man fick mer info om andra länder, som vi hittills inte fått veta så mycket om.

En sak som jag minns att jag funderade på i första boken, och som även dyker upp här, är om fabrikatorn David är autistisk? Det är nämligen så att han har svårt för sociala koder, skämt, komplimanger och liknande. Han skrattar inte spontant utan har en ganska stel mimik. Han är väldigt duktig på sitt jobb men har i princip noll intresse för vanliga samtal. Han vill mest bara pyssla med sitt. På sidan 209 står det t.ex. så här: "David took his wife's hand and pressed a kiss to her knuckles. Genya's cheeks flushed pink with pleasure. Nikolai knew David's gesture had be learned. The Fabrikator wans't given to spontaneous demonstrations of affection, but they made his wife happy, and he loved to see his wife happy".
I ett senare stycke står det att David hade skrivit upp saker i en anteckningsbok att säga till sin fru för att göra henne glad, som han hade lärt sig, t.ex. komplimanger om hennes hår, att hon luktar gott osv, för att påminna sig själv om att säga sånt, för det kom inte av sig själv. Det låter typiskt autistiskt, men det är bara en spekulation från min sida.

Sedan undrar jag över slutet. Det är så öppet, men om jag förstår det rätt är detta en duologi, så det ska inte komma nån mer bok? Varför ett så öppet slut då?! Det låter ju som att det kan komma en bok till. Sånt gillar jag inte, haha. Jag vill ha raka bud. Hur som, jag tyckte boken var väldigt bra och spännande.

Story: Fjerda plans on invading Ravka and end the Grisha land's independence but the demon king Nikolai Lantsov won't give so easily. Even though Ravka doesn't have the same military power he'll use every trick he can to defend his kingdom and people.

The storm witch Zoya Nazyalensky has paid a high cost in the war. She has seen her soldiers die and her worst enemy resurrected. She refuses to bury another friend. But her duty demands of her to embrace her new powers to become the weapon her country needs, no matter the cost.

The soldier and spy Nina Zenik is undercover in Fjerda, where she risks both torture and death if she's discovered. She does everything she can to sabotage the country who wants to wipe out her people, but if she's not careful she might risk putting everyone's life at risk.

My opinion about the book: I've been a bit slow at reading right now, because of brain fatigue (ME/CFS) and Animal Crossing. But I was very skeptical towards "King of Scars" (the first book) so didn't have high expectantions on this one. The first book was pretty average to me, I don't remember exactly why but I do believe I didn't get any connection to the characters. They felt flat and arrogant. I don't know if the plot was that great either. But what I remember the most was that I didn't think it was that good (didn't understand all the praise for it).
So I was really surprised by how involved I got in this book! I had a really hard time putting it down. The characters were both entertaining, sympathetic and had a depth to them. At times it got a bit repetitive with the same feelings and thoughts being brought up now and again, but over all I think it was pretty good. The suspense held on the entire book and there were twists than I didn't see coming at all. I also like the mix of different kingdoms, where people from other books showed up but also that you got to know more about the other kingdoms, which we haven't gotten to know so much before.

One thing I remember thinking about in the first book, that also came up here, was if the fabrikator David is autistic? He has a hard time understanding social cues, jokes, compliments and such. He doesn't laugh spontaneously, he has more stiff facial expressions. He's very good at his job but has pretty much zero interest in regular conversations. He just wants to do his thinkg.
On page 209 it says this: "David took his wife's hand and pressed a kiss to her knuckles. Genya's cheeks flushed pink with pleasure. Nikolai knew David's gesture had be learned. The Fabrikator wans't given to spontaneous demonstrations of affection, but they made his wife happy, and he loved to see his wife happy".
Later on it says that David had written stuff in a notebook to say to his wife to make her happy, that he'd learned, like compliments about her hair or that she smelled good and so on, to remind himself to say those things since they didn't come to him by themselves. It sounds like typical autistic stuff, but that's just me speculating.

I also wonder about the ending. It's so open, but I understand this to be a duology, so there won't be another book? Why such an open ending then!? It sounds like there might be another book.
I don't like that, haha. I want clear answers. Anyway, I think the book was really good and suspenseful.

Handling: En ung liten Mahdekflicka vandrar med sin klan för att hålla sig så långt borta från Jan'Tep som möjligt, men oavsett hur långt man vandrar kan man alltid bli hittad.
Flickan växer upp och får se en mörk sida av världen där hon tvingas stjäla för att överleva, i alla fall tills hon träffar på Durral Brown, en underlig sorts vandrande filosof som kan prata sig ur alla situationer. Tillsammans vandrar de land och rike runt, ständigt jagade av magiker. Flickan hoppas att Durral är svaret på alla hennes problem, men situationen hon har försatts i verkar vara omöjlig att lösa.

Min åsikt om boken: Jag var tvungen att vara medvetet vag vad gäller bokens handling, annars finns risken att jag spoilar alltihopa och det vore ju lite retligt. Hur som, om man har läst Spellslingerserien av samma författare kan man nog ana vem boken handlar om. Hon var nämligen en av mina favoritkaraktärer i den serien och jag funderade alltid på varför hon var som hon var. Nu har jag definitivt fått svar på det. Redan från första sidan visste jag att den här boken skulle falla mig i smaken och jag hade rätt. Trots att handlingen är ganska mörk känns den inte tung, det finns alltid en strimma hopp nånstans som gör att man orkar ta sig vidare. Handlingen har också en hel del klockrena citat och dialoger som jag tyckte var underhållande. Det gick väldigt snabbt att läsa ut den, just för att den var så spännande. Man visste aldrig vad som skulle hända!
Det jag gillar mest är dock att man får mer bakgrund till allt kring folken Jan'Tep, Argosi och Mahdek, något som bara nämndes lite kort i Spellslingerserien. Nu får man mer bakgrundsfakta och det gör att jag uppskattar alla böcker ännu mer. Man måste inte läsa Spellslingerserien först för att kunna läsa den här, men jag skulle ändå rekommendera det. Det man riskerar att missa annars är svårigheterna Kellen möts av i den serien som man får uppleva tillsammans med honom. Läsaren vet precis lika mycket/lite som honom och får uppleva den här förvirringen som han gör i början, speciellt när han möter en viss Argosi. Tillsammans utvecklas man med honom och det tycker jag är en häftig upplevelse! Så jag tycker definitivt att man ska börja i den änden först. Men den här boken var verkligen riktigt bra och jag ser fram emot att läsa nästa!

Story: A young Mahdek girl wanders with her clan to stay as far away as possible from the Jan'Tep, but no matter how far you walk you can always be found.
The girl grows up to see a dark side of the world where she's forced to steal to survive, at least until she meets Durral Brown, a weird sort of wandering philosopher who can talk himself out of any situation. Together they travel from land to land, always hunted by magicians. The girl is hoping Durral might be the answer to all her problems, but the situation she's been put in seems impossible to solve.

My opinion about the book: I had to be pretty vague about the plot of the book, because I don't want to spoil anything. It's a bit hard to explain the book thoroughly without giving away a lot of details. Anyway, if you've read the Spellslinger series by the same author, you might know who the book is about. She was one of my favorite characters in that series and I always wondered why she was the way she was. Now I know! From the first page I just knew I would like the book and I was correct. Even though the plot is pretty dark it's never heavy, there's always a sliver of hope somewhere that keeps you going. It also contains a couple of funny and awesome quotes and dialouges that was entertainig.
The book is easily read so didn't take long to finish it, mostly because it was so suspenseful. You never knew what was coming next!
What I like the most is that you get more background info about the people of Jan'Tep, Argosi and Mahdek, which was only mentioned briefly in the Spellslinger series. Now when I have all the facts it makes me appreciate all the books even more. You don't have to read the Spellslinger series before reading this one, but I would still recommend it. Otherwise you might risk the hardships Kellen is met with in the series that you get to experience with him. The reader knows just as much/little as he does and togheter you get to experience that confusion that he does in the beginning, especially when he meets a particular Argosi. You get to develop with him and I think that is an awesome experience! So I would recommend people to start there first. But this book was really great and I really look forward to the next book!

Handling: Warlock Holmes har ju som bekant ett antal demoner i sig men nu har även dr Watson börjat använda sig av magiska varelser. Närmare bestämt mumien av trollkarlen Xantharaxes. Watson injicerar bitar av mumien för att få profetiska drömmar och försöka klura ut hur han ska komma åt ärkefienden Moriarty. Men hur bra är det för hälsan egentligen?

Min åsikt om boken: De här böckerna är en rolig spinn på den klassiska figuren Sherlock Holmes. Warlock Holmes är inte alls speciellt klipsk men det är tur att han har Watson vid sin sida. Däremot är Warlock en jäkel på magi och kan lösa mysterier på det sättet, ibland i alla fall. Dock är han ganska virrig, men om man är en multidimensionell varelse på 250 år kanske det inte är så konstigt, haha.
Som tidigare böcker är även denna bok uppdelad i kapitel med olika berättelser. Ibland har de med varandra att göra och ibland inte. Jag har fullkomligt älskat varenda bok hittills och jag blev inte besviken den här gången heller! Jag skrattade högt ett par gånger medan jag läste. Warlock Holmes är verkligen min favorit, för han är så himla spejsad och flummig. Men också åt det naiva hållet. Jag gillar även Watson, trots att han kan vara lite för proper och lite kritisk mot folk. Boken innehåller så många klockrena citat, så jag hade svårt att bara välja... Ovanligt men jobbigt problem att ha! Gillar man mysterier med övernaturliga inslag ska man verkligen läsa de här böckerna. De är riktigt rolig och knasiga.

Story: Warlock Holmes has, as we all know, a couple of demons inside him but it seems like dr Watson also is in need of magical beings, namely the mummy of the sorcerer Xantharaxes. Watson injects bits of the mummy to get prophetic dreams and try to figure out how to get to the arch nemesis Moriarty.
But how good is that for his health?

My opinion about the book: These books are a fun spin on the classic figure Sherlock Holmes. Warlock Holmes is not very smart but he's lucky to have Watson by his side. But Warlock is very good at magic and can solve mysteries that way, sometimes at least. He's pretty birdbrained but maybe that's not so weird if you're a multidimensional 250 year old being, haha.
Like the previous books this book is divided into chapters with different stories. Sometimes they are connected and sometimes they're not.
I've loved each book so far and I was not disappointed this time either! I laughed out loud several times while reading. Warlock Holmes is really a favorite of mine, because he's so spaced out and weird. But also a bit naïve. I also like Watson, even though he can be a little too proper and critical of people. The book contains a lot of spon on quotes, so I had a hard time choosing... An unusual but hard problem to have! If you like mysteries with paranormal elements then you should really read these books! They are both funny and quirky.

Handling: Jacob och Noor vaknar upp i huset som tillhört Jacobs farfar. De minns inte hur de tog sig ut ur V's loop men det verkar som att ärkefienden Caul har återuppstått. Jacob och Noor måste ta sig tillbaka till Miss Peregrine och deras vänners loop, innan det är för sent.
Tillsammans måste de komma på hur de ska stoppa Caul en gång för alla, innan han förgör hela världen.

Min åsikt om boken: Det verkar som att den här serien egentligen är uppdelad i två trilogier? Men ändå hör de ihop på nåt sätt. Det står t.ex. "den 6:e boken om Miss Peregrines besynnerliga barn" på boken men enligt vissa sidor på nätet är de inte en serie, utan två trilogier. Vilket låter väldigt dumt i mina öron. Hur som, jag tyckte i alla fall att de 3 första böckerna var väldigt bra och underhållande. Men bok 4 och 5 (eller bok 1 och 2 i den andra trilogin tydligen) var väldigt svaga, även om jag ska erkänna att jag inte minns så mycket av dem. De var inte alls lika bra som de tidigare men jag måste säga att jag är ganska nöjd med utfallet av den 6:e boken. Den kändes inte lika stökig och rörig som de 2 föregående och den hade i princip samma tempo hela tiden. Spänningen var precis sådär lagom och jag tyckte aldrig att det blev segt eller tjatigt. Jag gillar också hur vissa varelser beskrivs, man är inte rädd för att göra det lite äckligt eller blodigt, trots att böckerna kanske riktar sig mot lite yngre personer (gissar jag på).
Det enda som jag tyckte var ganska osannolikt var att alla böckerna skulle ha utspelat sig på 1 år. Det kändes inte alls troligt på nåt sätt, men annars var boken bra. Det var lite svårt att se hur slutet skulle utspela sig, vilket alltid är uppskattat. Det är så tråkigt när man kan ana hur det ska gå och får rätt.

Story: Jacob and Noor wakes up in the house that once belonged to Jacob's grandfather. They don't remember how they escaped V's loop but it seems like the arch nemesis Caul has been resurected. Jacob and Noor must get back to Miss Peregrine and their friends' loop before it's too late.
Together they must find a way to stop Caul once and for all, before he destroyes the whole world.

My opinion about the book: It seems like this series is divided into two triologies? But they still belong together. It says "the sixth novel of Miss Peregrine's Peculiar children" on the book but according to some sites online it's not a series, but two triologies. Which sounds stupid to me. Anyway, I thought the 3 first books were really great and entertaining. But book 4 and 5 (or book 1 and 2 in the second triology apparently) were pretty weak. But I must admit that I don't remember much about them. They weren't as good as they previous books but I must say that I really liked the outcome of the 6th book. It wasn't as messy and confusing as the previous 2 and it had the same pace pretty much the whole way. The suspense was just right and I never thought it got slow or boring. I also liked how some of the creatures were described, that the author wasn't afraid of making it a little disgusting or bloody, even though the books are aimed at younger people (I guess).
The only thing I felt was unlikely was that everything in all the books happened in a span of a year. It didn't seem possible in any way, but other than that it was good. I had a hard time seeing how the end would play out, which is always appreciated. It's really boring to be able to guess or see the end on beforehand and be right.
