Månadens bok/Book of the month

Höll på att glömma av att tipsa om månadens bok igen, men än är det september! Haha. Hur som, jag vill verkligen tipsa om den här serien, för den är rätt originell och jag minns att jag tyckte väldigt mycket om den. Karaktärerna, världen, miljöbeskrivningarna och författarens berättelseteknik överlag fångade mig direkt. En sjukt bra serie!
Den första boken, som alltså är månadens bok heter "The Incorruptibles" och är skriven av John Hornor Jacobs.

Om jag kort skulle beskriva boken så skulle jag säga att den är en blandning mellan vilda västern, romerska riket med ett uns av steampunk och lite fantasy. Boken börjar med karaktärerna Fisk och Shoe, som är legosoldater. De är ute och rider i okända delar av Riket när de upptäcker en båt på en flod där en rik och mäktig adelsman semestrar med sina söner och döttrar. De tror allihopa att de är odödliga, men alla kan dö. Få människor vet vad som gömmer sig ute i vildmarken... Fisk och Shoe är vana vid korruption och girighet så de vet att man inte kan lita på någon annan än varandra.
Men mitt i all misär och ödemarker kan kärlekens låga uppstå på det mest otippade ställena. Men det kan även både olyckan och döden...

Jag vill inte riktigt avslöja mer, men den är full av action, intriger, udda varelser, magi och så mycket spänning. Riktigt bra!

I almost forgot to post book of the month again, but it's still september! Haha. Anyway, I really want to suggest this series, because it's pretty original and I remember that I liked it alot. The characters, the world with it's descriptions of the environment and the author's narrative technique over all just captured me. A really awesome series!
The title of the first book, which is the book of the month, is "The Incorruptibles" and is written by John Hornor Jacobs.

If I was to give a short description of the book I'd say it's a mix of the wild west, roman empire with a pinch of steampunk and a bit of fantasy. The book starts with the characters Fisk and Shoe who's mercenaries. They are out riding in the uncharted parts of the Empire when the discover a boat on  river where a rich and powerful noble man is on vacation with his sons and daughters. They all think they're immortal, but everyone can die. Not many knows what is hiding in the wild... Fisk and Shoe are used to corruption and greed so they know they can't trust anyone else but each other. But in the midst of all the misery and wastelands the spark of love can arise in the most unexpected places. But so can also misfortune and death...

I really dont want to give more away but it's packed with action, intrigues, weird creatures, magic and so much more. Really good!

Bokmässan 2019/The Book Fair 2019

Ursäkta min minifrånvaro. Jag har haft fullt upp med både det ena och det andra så jag har inte fått så mycket gjort vad gäller böcker. Förra helgen var jag i Danmark med Moder Jord och firade hennes födelsedag. Igår var vi på kalas då en av mina kusiner fyllde 15 år i veckan och vi köpte dessutom en ny tv, vilket tog tid. Och idag var jag ju på Bokmässan här i Göteborg!
Det var första gången för mig som jag besökte mässan och som tur var hade jag med en vän som också är en riktig boknörd samt veteran vad gäller mässan. Så hon fick guida mig och berätta hur saker och ting funkade, haha. Var tur att hon var med för man kan lätt bli överväldigad av allt folk, ljud, rörelser osv.

Jag lyckades hitta 13 böcker som jag köpte och så fick jag goodiebag från Seraf Förlag som innehöll en bok, så totalt 14 böcker kom jag hem med. Inte helt fel!
Nu behöver jag definitivt inte köpa mer böcker på ett bra tag. Det börjar bli lite fullt i "Nytt in"-hyllan, haha.

Hur som, nöjd är jag med min dag men ska försöka bättra på mitt läsande för det har segat ner en hel del den här månaden.

Sorry for my short absence. I've had alot of things to do so I haven't gotten around to do alot of book related stuff. Last weekend I visited Denmark with Mother and celebrated her birthday. Yesterday we had another birthday celebration but for one of my cousins who just turned 15 and we also bought a new tv before that, which took alot of time. And today I visited Gothenburg Book Fair!

It was my first time visiting it and luckily I had a fellow book nerd with me who's also a veteran when it comes to the fair. So she had to guide my around and enlighten me about how things worked, haha. It was nice having her with me because it's easy to get overwhelmed by all the movement, sounds, people and so on.

I mamanged to found 13 books that I bought and I also got a goodiebag from Serfag Förlag (publishing company) that had a book in it, so I came home with a total of 14 books. That's pretty good.
But I definitely don't need to buy anymore books for a long while. It's getting pretty "crowded" on the "New in"- shelve, haha.

Anyway, I'm very pleased with my day but I need to try to better my reading because it's been going slow this month.

En snabb boksummering/ A quick book summary.

Sen jag startade både bokbloggen och bokinstan förra året har jag haft koll på antalet böcker jag har läst, mest för att det är kul och för att det alltid är mer än jag tror! Förra året trodde jag att jag kanske hade läst 30-40 böcker när det i slutändan landade på 76 st... Noll koll!
Så, det är därför jag skriver upp allt jag läser. Och hittills i år, från 1 januari till 31 juli har jag läst 51 böcker! Inte helt fel. Jag hoppas kunna slå förra årets antal på 76 st och förhoppningsvis komma upp i åtminstone 80 böcker. Men det är ju faktiskt bara 3 månader kvar till jul... Så vette tusan om det kommer bli så. Men jaja.

Håller du koll på antalet böcker du läser och har du ett mål med ditt läsande?

Since I started my book blog and book account on instagram last year I've been keeping track of the number of books I've read, mostly because it's fun and because it's alway more than I think! Last year I thought I had read like 30-40 books when in the end it was 76... Totally clueless!
So, that's why I write down everything I read. And so far this year, from January 1st to July 31st, I've read 51 books! Not that bad. I hope to beat last years number of 76 and hopefully reach 80 read books in a year. But it's only 3 months left ti christmas... So who knows if that happens or not.

A Pinch of Magic.

Handling: Systrarna Widdershins bor tillsammans med sin mormor i den lilla byn Crowstone, där mormor Bunny driver ett ölhak. Livet har inte varit enkelt för systrarna och Betty, den mellersta systern, drömmer om att få upptäcka världen men Bunny styr systrarna med en järnhand och tillåter dem inte att röra sig fritt. Varför är mormor så enveten, sur och hård?

En kväll bestämmer sig Betty för att ta med sig sin lillasyster Charlie ut på ett äventyr bortom byn, men planen går inte riktigt som hon hade tänkt sig. Istället för en upptäcktsfärd förändras systrarnas liv för evigt och nu blir det helt plötsligt en kamp om deras liv. De lever nämligen med en förbannelse hängande över sig. De kan välja mellan att stanna i Crowstone i resten av sina liv eller att göra någonting åt förbannelsen. Men hur?

Tillsammans med sina systrar och tre helt vardagliga föremål kämpar Betty för att göra livet bättre, inte bara för sig själv, utan även för henne systrar och alla framtida flickor i familjen. Det måste finnas ett sätt att bryta förbannelsen!


Min åsikt om boken: Detta är ännu en mysig äventyrsbok fullproppad med legender, magi, häxor, vänskap och lojalitet. Den är inte riktigt en regelriktig barnbok, utan för lite äldre personer men den är oerhört mysig på nåt sätt! Jag gillade hur systrarnas personligheter var så olika men att det inte stoppar dem från att vara nära varandra. Jag gillade också hur mormor Bunny beskrevs, för hon lät som en riktigt krutgumma som man inte bråkar med i onödan!

Den lilla byn Crowstone tillsammans med dess kringliggande öar lät också mysiga, även om det kanske låter väldigt otippat, med tanke på att de beskrevs som gråa, trista och sunkiga. Men det finns en viss charm med det. Jag gillar hur författaren vävde ihop nutid med dåtid för att få fram en enhetlighet bild av hur förbannelsen kom till och varför samt hur den påverkade människor både då och nu. Sen tyckte jag det var kul att i slutet av boken fanns ett enkelt test där man kunde kolla vilken av systrarna man var mest lik (Team Charlie! 🙋). En fantasirik och härlig bok som jag absolut kan rekommendera!

Story: The Widdershins sisters live together with their grandmother in the small village of Crowstone, where grandma Bunny runs a shabby pub. Life hasn't been easy for the sisters and Betty, the middle sister, is dreaming about exploring the world but Bunny rules the sisters with an iron fist and will not let them move freely. Why is grandma so stubborn, grouchy and harsh?

One night Betty decides to take her little sister Charlie out on an adventure beyond the village but it doesn't go as planned. Instead of an adventure the sisters' life change forever and now there's a fight for their lives, since apparently, they live under a curse. They can choose between staying in Crowstone for the rest of their lives or do something about the curse. But how?

Together with her sisters and three everyday objects Betty is fighting for a better life, not only for herself, but for her sisters and any other future girl in the family. There must be away to break the curse!

My opinion of the book: This is another cosy adventurous book with legends, magic, witches, friendship and loyalty. It's not regular children's book, but for a bit older people but it's very cosy somehow! I liked how the sisters' personalities were so different but that it didn't stop them from being close to each other. I also liked how grandma Bunny was depicted, because she sounded like a fierce woman you didn't want to mess with!

 The small village Crowstone with it's surrounding island sounded cosy aswell, even though it might sound weird, since they were described as grey, boring and a bit dilapidated. But there's a certain charm in it. I liked how the author mixed present day with past days to weave together the story of how the curse came about and why, but also how it affected people both then and now. I also thought it was fun that the book had a personality test in the end, so you could see which sister you have most in common with (Team Charlie! 🙋). A very imaginative and lovely book that I absolutely can recommend!

Nytt i hyllan/News on the shelf

Jag fick ju ett presentkort på Akademibokhandeln av min ena kusin i examenspresent för inte så längesen, så idag passade jag på att använda det. Först hade jag kollat ut två faktaböcker som jag tyckte verkade intressanta plus att omslagen såg rätt häftiga ut, men när jag väl höll dem i handen och kunde bläddra i dem så kändes de inte så intressanta längre. Tur ändå att man tog sig dit för att kolla!

Men jag kom ändå hem med 5 nya böcker. De har ju nån "Köp 4 - betala för 3"-kampanj och om man var medlem i deras kundklubb fick man även lite rabatt på ena boken, så det kändes bra. Jag betalade knappt hälften av kostnaden efter alla avdrag och presentkort. Inte helt fel!

Har du läst nån av böckerna och vad tyckte du om dem i så fall?

 I got a giftcard at Akademibokhandeln (a bookstore) by one of my cousins as a graduation gift not long ago, so today I took the opportunity to use it. I had already sought out two non fiction books that I thought might be interesting and had awesome covers, but when I held them in my hands and could flip through them they didn't seem so interesting anymore. So it was pure luck that I went and looked at them first!

But I went home with 4 new books. They had a "Buy 4 - pay for 3" deal and if you had a membership you got discount on one book, which felt nice. So I paid not even half of the cost after all the discounts and gift cards. I'm not complaining!

The Red Scrolls of Magic - the Eldest Curses

Handling: Magnus är en trollkarl och en så kallad "Downworlder" (i stil med vampyrer, féer, älvor och liknande). Han har precis börjat dejta Shadowhuntern Alec. Shadowhunters är ättlingar till änglarna och en sorts väktare, som skyddar jorden och människorna mot ondska och elaka typer. Att en Shadowhunter medvetet skulle beblanda sig med en "Downworlder" ses inte på med blida ögon och inte heller att ha en relation med någon av samma kön. Alec har alltid känt sig utanför och ensam, men med Magnus kan han känna sig trygg och är väldigt lycklig.

De är nu ute i Europa på semester efter ett stort slag och vill lära känna varandra bättre för att se vad relationen kan leda till. Men det dröjer inte länge förrän de blir indragna i en konspiration som hotar att dels förstöra deras relation och dels hota Magnus rykte och liv. En demondyrkande kult har dykt upp och begått hemska mord och det sägs att det är Magnus själv som är dess ledare, något han inte alls minns eller vet något om. Kulten måste stoppas innan allt går åt skogen!



Min åsikt om boken: Jag har aldrig läst en bok av Cassandra Clare innan men jag har sett lite av Shadowhunter-serien på Netflix (dock längesen) och tyckte att den var helt ok. Jag upplevde dock denna bok som något seg och tjatig. Det var ett jäkla flängande hit och dit, mycket upprepningar och istället för att använda pronomen så var det mycket upprepningar av namnen. Som t.ex. "Alec tyckte att Magnus verkade undvikande, men samtidigt kanske Alec misstog sig om Magnus beteende", en helt påhittad mening men så mycket upprepande av namn. Blev liksom irriterande till slut. Boken var dock bra när det blev action och hände nånting, för varelserna var intressanta och det var kul att få veta hur olika varelser såg ut samt vad de kunde göra. Men överlag var boken inte så jättebra. Den var rätt medelmåttig.

Dock tycker jag att det är helt suveränt med en bok som uteslutande handlar om två mäns kärlek till varandra, för hur ofta hittar man böcker som inte innehåller heterosexuella förhållanden? Rätt sällan faktiskt. Representation är viktigt och det är verkligen ett stort plus att författaren valt att skriva om just dessa två karaktärer. Tyvärr verkar det vara svårt att få ut böcker som innehåller icke heteroförhållanden, de liksom göms undan eller tas inte in på bibliotek och liknande (i alla fall USA), enligt författaren. Så ett stort plus i kanten för det, men tyvärr bar det inte riktigt upp handlingen.

Story: Magnus is a warlock and a so called "Downworlder" (along with vampires, fairies, sprites and such). He just began dating the shadowhunter Alec. Shadowhunters are descendents of angels and a kind of guardians, protecting the earth and humans against evil and nasty people. That a shadowhunter would deliberately mix themselves with a "Downworlder" is frowned upon and to have an actual relationship with someone of the same gender is not really accepted. Alec has always felt like an outsider and lonely, but with Magnus he feels safe and is happy.

They are out in Europe on vacation after a huge battle and wants to get to know each other better, to see what it all can lead to. But it doesn't take long until they're immersed in a conspiracy that threatens to not only destroy their relationship but also Magnus's reputation and life. A demon worshipping cult has appeared and is committing horrible murders and it is said that Magnus is its leader, something he doesn't remember or knows anything about. The cult must be stopped before it's too late!

My opinion of the book: I've never read a book by Cassandra Clare before but I've seen some of the Shadowhunter series on Netflix (long time ago though) and thought it was ok. I did however find this book to be a bit slow and repetitive. They went here and there, alot of repetitions and instead of using pronouns the caracther's names were used, so alot of repetitions of names. For example "Alec thought Magnus was avoiding Alec, but at the same time Alec could be mistaken about Magnus' behaviour", I made that sentence up but it was like this all the time, which was very annoying. The book was good though when there was some action and stuff happening, because the different creatures were interesting and it was fun to know more about the different kinds and what they could do. But overall the book was not great. It was pretty mediocre.

I do however think it's great with a book that was exclusively about the love between two men, because how often do you find books that doesn't contain heterosexual relationships? Rarely! Representation is important and it's a big plus that the author chose to write about just these two characters. Unforunately it seems to be hard to get books out if they're about non heterosexual relationships, they hare hidden away or not found in libraries (atleast in USA), according to the author. So a huge plus for that, but it didn't make the story better.

Bokpost/Book mail

Ursäkta min frånvaro, men jag har sysslat med annat hela veckan. Maken åkte iväg för att dels spela in musik och dels hälsa på sina föräldrar på Östkusten, så jag har varit ensam och passat på att spela tv-spel när xboxet äntligen var ledigt, haha. Så har nördat Assassin's Creed Origins hela veckan samtidigt som jag har börjat jobba igen efter semestern och skött om våra 8 husdjur (2 katter, 6 reptiler och 2 amfibier). Jag har bara läst lite grann på kvällarna precis innan läggdags och boken jag har hållit på med i veckan har varit lite sådär. Lite oinspirerande och då blir man inte jättesugen på att läsa. Men så kan det vara.
Hur som, fick hem bokpost i veckan! Del 2 om Markus av Trolyrien, ska bli kul att läsa! 😁

 Sorry for the absence, but I've been busy doing other stuff all week. Le Husband went away to record music and then visit his parents on the East coast so I've been alone all week and I took the opportunity to play videogames since the xbox was finally available (Le Husband plays Apex pretty much every day), haha. So I've been nerding Assassin's Creed Origins all week along with being back at work after my vacation and been taking care of our 8 pets (2 cats, 6 reptiles and 2 amphibians). I've read a little in the evenings right before bed and the book I've been reading has been a bit so-so to read. A bit uninspiring and that doesn't make you wanna read.
Anyway, I got book mail this week! Part 2 about Markus of  Trolyrien, looking forward to read it! 😁

Dåså, dags för ännu en summering. Förra månaden lyckades jag faktiskt läsa mer än jag trodde! Annars är ju sommaren lite seg överlag, då man är ute och gör saker och pysslar, så läsningen hamnar lite i lä. För det mesta, men inte alltid. Eftersom jag hade en sån sen semester (första arbetsdagen idag faktiskt!) hann sommarvädret försvinna, så jag har mest legat i soffan och läst en del.
Totalt blev det 8 böcker och 1 serietidning. Månadens favorit(er) var definitivt "Konsten att skära i kroppar" och "Circe"!

So, it's time for yet another summary. Last month I managed to read a bit more than I thought! Summer is usually a bit slow over all, since you're out doing stuff, so the books have to take a step back. Most of the time, not always though. I had my vacation a bit late (my first day back at work today!) so the summer weather had left us so I spent most of my time on the couch reading.
So 8 books and 1 comic book in total. This month's favorite(s) was most definitely "The Butchering Art" and "Circe"!

Handling: Massimo Vacchetta är veterinär men trött på sitt liv. Han är nästintill neurotisk när det gäller sitt utseende och det är mest för att det är det enda han lätt kan kontrollera, resten av hans liv känns svårhanterligt. Men så en dag träffar han på en sjuk igelkottsunge som han får i uppgift att ta hand om. Just då händer något inom honom och utan att Massimo vet om det, är det början på en livslång resa, allt tack vare en 25 gram "stor" igelkottsunge.



Min åsikt om boken: Det blev en kort beskrivning av den här boken, för det finns inte så mycket mer att säga utan att avslöja typ allt av handlingen. Den är relativt kort och det går snabbt att läsa igenom. Man får följa Massimos väg från där han är nu och hur han hamnade där samt vad han vill göra med sitt liv. Tack vare igelkotten Ninna vågar Massimo bli sig själv fullt ut och följa sina drömmar och det tycker jag är väldigt häftigt, för de flesta verkar ha inställningen att ett djur "bara är ett djur", ungefär som att de vore en sak, som man bara kan slänga bort hur man vill, men vi som tillåtit oss att komma nära djur vet att det inte stämmer.

Djur är bra för vår hälsa, både fysiskt och psykiskt. Djur dömer oss inte för hur vi ser ut, klär oss, vad vi tjänar, vem vi känner eller vad vi jobbar med. De dömer oss efter hur vi behandlar dem och jag önskar att fler hade den synen på andra människor. Djur ger oss trygghet, kärlek och glädje i oändlig mängd och funkar många gånger bättre än läkemedel när det gäller ens hälsa. Utan djur hade livet varit så grått och trist. Jag hade aldrig velat leva utan djur, vilket kanske säger sig självt eftersom jag har 8 husdjur, haha. Nä, men detta är en jättefin bok om en mans passion och hans kärlek till igelkottar. En riktigt mysig bok att läsa när man vill ha något mer lättsmält.

English title: A Handful of Happiness.

Story: Massimo Vacchetta is a veterinary but tired of his life. He's almost neurotic when it comes to his looks and it's mostly because it's the only thing he can easily controll, while the rest of his life is a bit too difficult. But one day he meets a sick little baby hedgehog that he gets to take care of. Right then and there, something happens within him and without Massimo knowing it, it marks the beginning of a life long journey, all thanks to a 25 gram "big" hedgehog.

My opinion of the book: I could only write a short description of the book, because there's not much more to say without spoiling the entire book basically. The book is relatively short and it doesn't take long to read it. You get to follow Massimo's way to where he is now and how he got there and what he wants to do in life. Thanks to the hedgehog Ninna Massimo dares to fully be himself and follow his dreams, which I think is pretty awesome, because most people seems to have the attitude that an animal is "just an animal", like it's a think you can throw away whenever you want but those of us who dared to get close to animals know that's not true.

Animals are good for our health, both physically and mentally. Animals never judge how we look, dress, what we make (money), who we know or what we work with. They judge us by how we act and treat them. I wish more people was of this opinion. Animals make us feel safe, loved and happy in abundance and are ofter more efficient than drugs when it comes to your health. Without animals life would have been so gray and boring. I could never live without animals, but maybe that goes without saying, since I have 8 pets, haha. Anyway, this is a lovely book about one man's passion and love for hedgehogs. A very cosy book you can read when you want some light reading.

Handling: Markus är en ung tonårskille som hamnat på sjukhus efter en skidolycka, som efterlämnade en bruten arm och ett brutet ben, när han plötsligt får ett besök av en underlig kvinna. Hon kallar honom för "Ers höghet" och "prins Albrak", vilket gör Markus tvärsäker på att han måste hallucinera. Kvinnan spottar dessutom på hans kläder i en sorts hälsningsfras, vilket bara förstärker hans misstanke om en väldigt verklighetstrogen hallucination. Men innan han vet ordet av det har kvinnan släpat med honom till en helt ny värld, efter att hon dessutom helat hans benbrott på bara några sekunder.

I Valarien, som den nya världen heter, är inget som där hemma. Det växer kläder på träd, enorma sniglar vördas av folk och bevingade apor och andra udda monster härjar i skogarna. Kungligheter rider på enorma fjärilar och det finns mat som får en att orka springa mer och längre än normalt. Av någon anledning verkar alla tro att Markus är den här prins Albrak och Markus vågar inte riktigt protestera, för han vet inte vad tusan han har dragits in i. Men det han vet är att Valariens folk behöver hjälp och han har inte hjärta nog att överge dem. Det finns monster att döda och en portal att stänga!


Min åsikt om boken: Detta är ett recensionsexemplar som jag fått hem och jag tackar författaren så hemskt mycket för det! 🙏

I ärlighetens namn trodde jag inte att boken skulle vara så bra, för jag är svårflirtad och jag tyckte inte att omslaget var så intresseväckande. I början var boken sådär lagom knasig så jag skrockade ett par gånger, men sen tyckte jag handlingen planade ut lite. Det var mycket fram och tillbaka, så det kändes inte som att så mycket hände. Det var min åsikt efter cirka 1/3 av boken. Men efter det, då jäklar hände grejer! Jag tyckte handlingen utvecklades väldigt mycket och till slut satt jag som klistrad vid boken och var bara tvungen att veta hur det skulle utspela sig på nästa sida och nästa och nästa osv. Det kändes som att handlingen utvecklades i takt med huvudkaraktären Markus. Ju självsäkrare han blev, desto bättre blev handlingen, men jag vet inte om det var meningen eller bara en lycklig slump? Hur som tyckte jag att twisterna i slutet var både smart och bra. Jag kanske hade nån misstanke om en av dem, men jag hann liksom glömma bort det mitt i allt som hände, haha. Så när den ena twisten dök upp (som jag misstänkte) så sa jag "Whaaaat!?" högt! 😂

Jag blev positivt överraskad av den här boken. Den har mer att komma med än man först tror! Så man ska verkligen inte döma boken efter omslaget. En rolig och väldigt fantasifull bok där allt knyts ihop på ett snyggt sätt i slutet och jag blev faktiskt nyfiken på fortsättningen!

Title: Maybe it's not necessary to "translate" the title since it simply means Markus of Trolyrien, but I did it anyway 😛

Story: Markus is a young teenage boy who's ended up in the hospital after a skiing accident, that left him with a broken arm and leg, when a strange woman appears. She calls him "Your majesty" and "prince Albrak", which makes Markus 100% sure he is hallucinating. The woman also spits on his clothes, which just amplifies his suspisions about being in a very realistic hallucination. But before he knows it, the woman has dragged him away into a new world, after she also heals his broken bones in a few seconds.

In Valarien, as is the name of the new world, nothing is as like home. There are clothes growing on trees, huge snails are revered by people and monkeys with wings and other strange monsters lurks in the forests. Royalties ride on gigantic butterflies and there's food that will make you run more and longer than normal. For some reason everyone thinks that Markus is the prince Albrak and Marcus doesn't really dare to protest, because he doesn't know what the hell is happening. But he knows that the people of Valarien is in need of help and he doesn't have the heart to abandon them. There are monsters to kill and a portal to close!

My opinion of the book: This is a review copy that I got from the author and I'm very grateful for it, so thank you! 🙏

I honestly didn't think the book would be any good, because I'm elusive like that and I didn't think the cover was intriguing. In the beginning the book was a bit quirky, I even chuckled a copule of times, but then I felt like the plot flattened out a bit. It was alot of back and forth, so I felt like not much was happening. That was my opinion after approx. 1/3 of the book. But after that thinks happened! I think the plot evolved alot and in the end I was glued to the book. I just had to know what was going to happen on the next page and the next and the next and so on. It was like the plot evolved along side with the main character Markus. The more self confident he got, the better the plot got. I don't know if that was meant to happen or just a happy accident? Anyway, I thought that the twists in the end was both smart and really good. I might have had a suspicion about one of the twists, but I managed to forget about it because of all the things that happened in the book. So when that twist finally came, I was saying "Whaaaaat?!" out loud! 😂 

I was pleasently surprised by this book. It has alot more to it than you first think! So you should probably not judge a book by its cover. A fun and very imaginative book where everything is tied together in a neat way in the end and I was actually curious about the continuing!

Nytt i hyllan/News on the bookshelf

När jag var iväg i fredags och lämnade in prover och liknande på vårdcentralen (blev stucken 7 gånger sammanlagt den veckan för att lämna blodprov och det var knappt att det gick... 😒) så skulle jag även ner till Habiliteringen efteråt men jag fick så mycket tid över mellan besöken, så jag hann med en tur in på Scifibokhandeln och där hittade jag faktiskt två nya böcker!

Den ena utspelar sig i Frankrike under 1700-talet och innehåller både historik och lite magi/fantasy medan den andra är en asiatisk fantasy om magiska krafter och uppror. Verkar intressanta!
Passade även på att överraska min man med en ny mangabok, eftersom han alltid ska överraska mig med böcker. Han är dock svår att köpa saker till, för han är extremt petig, haha. Men det gick bra, han gillade mangan väldigt mycket! 😁

When I was away last friday to leave off tests and such at my doctor's office (I was pricked 7 times all together that week just to leave blood samples and it was barely they got any blood at all... 😒) I was also going to the Habilitation department afterwards, but I had so much time over between the two appointments that I managed to make a quick visit to the Science fiction bookstore and I found two new books there!

One of them takes place in France during the 1700's and contains both history and a bit of magic/fantasy while the other one is asian fantasy about magical powers and rebellion. Seems interesting!
I also took the opportunity to surprise my husband with a new manga book, since he always surprises me with new books. He's really difficult to buy stuff for, because he's extremely picky, haha. But it went well, he really liked the manga! 😁
