Serie/Series: Ja, del 1/Yes, part 1.

(English below)

Mitt favoritcitat ur boken:

"She had many names to many peoples, but with the passage of eons she had come to think of herself as Lilith. Especially because her lord had difficulty enunciating it. A tiny victory, perhaps, but even the smallest gesture helped her swallow her unending disgust with finding herself bound for eternity to the Fly."

Story: Lord Sargatanas was one of the seraphims that fell down to Hell together with Lucifer after the uprising in Heaven. But unlike the other demon leaders he's not evil or fond of torturing and tormenting human souls. He can't really forget his earlier life in the light and refuses to believe that there's no way for him to return, even though he's been in Hell for thousands of years. He wants to return and will do anything to get there, which leads to several brutal battles with other demon leaders in Hell. But is it the right way to go?

My opinion of the book: This is a very special book for several reasons. It's written in a pretty high-sounding way and that took some time to get used to. It does, however, feel unthinkable for it to have been written in a more common form of english considering what it's about. When I got used to it it felt very believable, like that's how they would have been speaking and acting in Hell with all it's "fine" and depraved gentlemen. Something that was a bit hard to get used to was the narration or descriptions, there wasn't many dialogues so there was a lot of text page up and down. The text is pretty small as well so the pages were crammed with text. Sometimes I spaced out while reading because there was a lot of descriptions of the environment, clothes, buildings and so on. Too many details that weren't that important for the story in itself. But that's a matter of taste.
The book is very interesting though! The characters are skillfully portrayed. You really feel sympathy for one side and disgust for the other. The opponents are really vile and disgusting while the other one feels more sorrowful and sympathetic. Overall I really liked the book, it was like being in another world and Hell was very original with its environment. Not at all the typical Hell with fire and lava where souls where tormented for ever. A very good book!

There you can also see his paintings of characters from the books that he made himself. He didn't only write this book but also made the book cover (which is beyond amazing!).

My favorite quote from the book:
