Handling: Harrowhark överlevde Caanan House och har nu blivit en "lyctor" i den Odöda kejsarens tjänst. Hennes jobb är att döda planeter och slåss mot "Resurection Beasts" som är ute efter att döda dem alla. Men nånting står inte rätt till. Harrow är förändrad men hon vet inte varför. Mysteriska lappar skrivna av henne själv dyker upp och hon verkar se i syne. Vad är på riktigt och vad är rena fantasier?
Min åsikt om boken: Jag har gått och funderat på den här boken sen jag läste ut den i onsdags. Orsaken till det är att den är extremt speciell. Jag tyckte första boken var grym så hade ganska höga förväntningar på uppföljaren och så var den otroligt förvirrande. Men jag vet inte om det är positivt eller negativt? För det första är den skriven i både andra och tredje person, så den växlar mellan det och jag förstod inte varför. I början tyckte jag att det var väldigt irriterande men sedan vande jag mig. För det andra är man tillbaka i Caanan House från första boken, fast med andra eller nya (!) karaktärer... Liksom, va? Man får ingen ledtråd till varför det är så. Jag tror författaren ville hålla läsaren förvirrad för att det skulle bli den stora grejen i slutet, men det påverkar ju också ens läsupplevelse väldigt mycket. Hur förvirrande kan man göra det utan att gå för långt? Läsaren måste ju förstå vad som händer, annars blir boken helt meningslös. Så jag tror att det hänger väldigt mycket på ens smak, vad man tycker om och inte. Vad som är ok och inte. Det tog ungefär halva boken för mig innan jag faktiskt började uppskatta handlingen. Jag skulle säga att det är 90% förvirring och 10% ren underhållning. Men jag förstod inte slutet alls... När jag väl trodde att jag hade greppat vad som hände så kastades det helt åt sidan. Överlevde Harrow? Vad hände med G? Vem var egentligen "The Sleeper" och "The Body"? Fattade inte riktigt hur de passade in eller om de ens var vid liv. Oerhört förvirrande. Ändå ser jag fram emot att läsa tredje boken men med förhoppningen om att den kommer vara mycket bättre och mindre knepig...

Story: Harrowhark survived Caanan House and is now a "lyctor" in the service of the Undead emperor. Her job is to kill planets and fight against "Resurection Beasts" that are out to kill them all. But something is not right. Harrow is changed but she doesn't know why. Mysterious notes written by herself show up and she seems to hallucinate. What is real and what is pure fantasy?
My opinion about the book: I've been thinking a lot about this book since I finished it last wednesday. The reason is that it's extremely special. I thought the first book was awesome so I had pretty high expectations on the sequel and it was so confusing. But I don't know it that's positive or negative? Firstly it's written in both second and third person, so it switches between the two. In the beginning I found that very annoying but I eventually got used to it. Secondly you're back in Caanan House from the first book, but with different or new (!) characters... Like what? You don't get any clues to why. I think the author wanted the reader to be confused so it could become the big reveal in the end, but it also affect the reading experience very much. How confusing can you make it without it going too far? The reader must understand what happens, otherwise the book is meaningless. So I think it's a lot up to the reader's taste, what you like and not. What is ok and not. It took half the book for me to begin appreciating the story. I would say it's 90% confusion and 10% pure entertainment. But I didn't understand the ending at all... When I thought I had it all figured out it went right out the window. Did Harrow survive? What happened to G? Who was "The Sleeper" and "The Body"? I didn't really understand how they fitted in or if they were even alive. So confusing. I do still look forward to the third book but with the hope if it being much better and less weird...
