Handling: Clint och Corbin är bästa vänner. De hamnar ofta i trubbel, speciellt under Mrs Christensons lektioner, för hon verkar vilja suga livslusten ur alla barn som råkar ha oturen att ha henne som lärare. Clints familjesituation ser också annorlunda ut. Efter att hans pappa gick bort har hans mamma gift om sig och han har fått nya styvsyskon som han inte riktigt kommer överens med.
Livet är alltså rätt jobbigt just nu. Det enda som piggar upp Clint är Melissa, tjejen i hans klass som han är kär i men han är för feg för att våga prata med henne.

En dag blir Clint och Corbin attackerad på väg till skolan, av en konstig varelse och sedan invaderas Clints hem av utomjordingar som säger att de letar efter något som heter "the Requiem". De måste få tag på den innan de onda typerna från deras värld, the Fury, får tag på den. Clint vet inte vad han ska tänka eller tycka, men livet blir aldrig detsamma igen.
Tillsammans med sin familj måste de överleva ett flertal attacker och försöka hitta "the Requiem".


Min åsikt om boken: Detta är ett recensionsexemplar som författaren skickade över till mig. I det stora hela är boken både underhållande och originell, men stundtals är den rätt seg. Det händer mycket men det är för mycket detaljer, vilket gör att man tröttnar ibland. Istället för att skriva t.ex. att karaktären gick upp till sitt rum och bytte om till pyjamas, ska det förklaras i minsta detalj. Karaktären gick upp för trappan, tog vänster i hallen till sitt rum, beskrivning av hur rummet ser ut just då, var pyjamasen låg, hur karaktären tar på sig plaggen osv. Det blir liksom lite för detaljerat. Ungefär som att man inte litar på att läsaren ska förstå det. Sedan upptäckte jag rätt många stavfel, t.ex. på sid 41, där det står "shrieks" först men sen ändras till "shrikes" och sedan till "shrieks" och "shrikes" igen. På ett ställe stavades en karaktärs namn "Transun" men sedan blev det till "Transon" på 2-3 sidor. Istället för "frame" stod det "fame" osv. Det förtog inte läsupplevelsen, men det blev lite förvirrande när man stötte på dem.

Boken i sig är som sagt originell vad gäller historien och jag tyckte boken var intressant, men jag tror nog man hade kunnat banta bort ett par sidor om man tog bort de överdrivna detaljerna som egentligen inte behövdes. Jag hade velat få lite mer information om Banks och O'Neils värld, men det antar jag kommer i bok nummer 2. En helt ok bok överlag enligt mig.

Story: Clint and Corbin are best friends. They often end up in trouble, especially during Mrs Christensons' lessons, because she seems to want to suck the life out of every child that is unlucky enough to have her as a teacher.
Clint's family situation is different now. After his father passed away his mother remarried and he now has step siblings that he doesn't really get along with. Life is pretty hard right now. The only thing that cheers Clint up is Melissa, the girl in his class that he's in love with but doesn't dare to talk to.

One day Clint and Corbin are attacked on their way to school, by a strange creature and then Clint's home is invaded by aliens saying that they are looking for something called "the Requiem". They need to get it before the evil creatures from their world, the Fury, gets to it. Clint doesn't know what to think but life will never be the same again.
Together with his family Clint must survive several attacks and try to find "the Requiem".


My opinion of the book: This is a review copy that the author sent over to me. Over all the book is both entertaining and original, but at times a bit slow. There's a lot going on but there's also too much details, which is a bit tiresome at times. Instead of writing for example that the character went up to his/her room and changed into his/her pyjamas, it's explained in every detail. Like the character went up the stairs, went into the hall, went left or right to their room, what the room looked like just then, where tha pyjamas is, how the character puts it on and so on. It gets a bit too detailed, like the writer doesn't trust the reader to get it. Then I also discovered a couple of spelling errors, for example on page 41, where it says "shrieks" but then "shrikes" and then "shrieks" and "shrikes" again. In one place a characters name was spelled "Transun" but then "Transon" for 2-3 pages. Instead of "frame" it said "fame" and so on. It didn't ruin the reading but it was a bit confusing when you got to those places.

The book in itself is original, as I mentioned before, when it comes to the story and I did think the book was interesting, but I think the book could be shortened a bit if the excessive details that weren't necessary were taken away. I would have liked to get more information about Banks' and O'Neils' world, but I guess that's what book no 2 is about. The book was alright overall.
