Handling: Vättarna i världen Pell blir attackerade och dödade av hober utan orsak, trots att Skyr (vättarna och hobernas land) ska styras av en vätte och en hob, för att hålla freden vid liv. Men något verkar ha förändrats. Av ett rent sammanträffande råkar en orvitaur (halvmänniska och halvfår, som en kentaur), en dvärg, två vättar, en hob och en grip ge sig ut på ett äventyr för att stoppa mördandet och det annalkande kriget. De upptäcker snart både oegentligheter och korruption. På vägen träffar de både urgamla gudar, pysslingar, köttätande träd, underjordiska städer och mycket annat.

Min åsikt om boken: Detta är den andra boken i trilogin om världen Pell, även om de är fristående. Det spelar ingen roll vilken ordning man läser dem i men vissa karaktärer från tidigare böcker finns med i senare böcker, så det kan vara bra att veta. Jag fullkomligt älskade den tredje boken "The Princess Beard" och skrattade högt när jag läste den, så hade ganska höga förväntningar på de övriga böckerna. Första boken "Kill the farm boy" var sådär smårolig, man fnissade lite grann men den kunde inte mäta sig med den tredje boken. "No country for old gnomes" var nog den tråkigaste av dem. Det var inte mycket som var sådär jättekul och det kändes som att det var samma sak igen som i övriga böcker. Ännu en grupp blandade personer/varelser som är ute på äventyr och möter faror. Handlingen kändes också mer random, så till den milda grad att det mest blev konstigt än roligt. Inte en höjdare, men bok 2 brukar oftast vara svagast i trilogier/serier. Den var helt ok men kunde ha varit bättre.

Story: The gnomes in the world of Pell are being attacked and killed by halflings without reason, even though Skyr (the gnomes' and halflings' land) is supposed to be run by a gnome and a hafling to keep the peace alive. But something seems to have changed. By coincidence an orvitaur (half human, half sheep, like a centaur), a dwarf, two gnomes, a halfling and a gryphon come together to head out on an adventure to stop the killing and the up coming war. They soon discovers irregularities and corruptions. On their way the meet ancient gods, kobolds, meat eating trees, underground cities and much more.

My opinion about the book: This is the second book about the world of Pell, even if they are standalone. It doesn't really matter which order they are read in, but some characters are in later books, so that might be good to know. I loved the third book "The Princess Beard" and laughed out loud when I read it, so I had high expectations on the other books. The first book "Kill the farm boy" was a bit fun, you'd giggle a little but it couldn't match the third book. "No country for old gnomes" was probably the most boring one. There wasn't much that was hilarious and it felt like the same thing again like the other books. Yet another mixed group of people/creatures out on adventure facing dangers. The plot felt so more random that things got more weird than funny. Not that great, but the second book in triologies/series are often the weakest. The book was alright but could have been better.

Jag gör i princip aldrig såna här "book tags" för jag har aldrig ork eller lust. Det blir liksom mer jobb i vardagen och det vill jag inte ha. Men den här gången blev jag taggad i en som kändes precis sådär lagom enkel så t.o.m. jag orkade delta, haha.

LAST var "Ur askan" av Leigh Bardugo. Det var ju som sagt en omläsning på grund av Netflixserien som börjar imorgon. Den skrev jag ju om nyss, så behöver nog inte skriva så mycket mer.

NOW läser jag den andra fristående boken i trilogin/serien om världen Pell. Jag har dock redan läst både första och tredje boken, så tänkte att nu var det nog dags att läsa denna. Eftersom de är fristående kan man läsa dem hur man vill egentligen, men vissa karaktärer dyker upp i fler böcker, vilket ju kan vara en lite spoiler. Det beror på hur bra minne man har, haha. De här böckerna är lite knasiga och underhållande. Tredje boken ("The Princess Beard") är dock bäst! Vet inte om de kommer fler böcker som utspelar sig i denna värld, så vet inte om de ska benämnas som trilogi eller serie.

NEXT är alltid ett mysterium. Jag är en mood reader och klarar inte av TBR-listor och grejer. Jag skulle bli knäpp på det, haha. Måste ha min frihet och kunna välja där och då vad jag ska läsa. Skulle nog förlora läslusten helt annars. Jag är ju ganska anti mot krav, oavsett om de kommer från mig själv eller andra.

I rarely ever do these "book tags" because I never have the energy for it. Just feels like more stuff to do on top of everything else and I don't like that. But I was tagged for this one recently and I felt like it was just right for me, simple enough for me to do, haha.

LAST was "Ruin and Rising" by Leigh Bardugo. It was a reread because of the Netflix series that starts tomorrow. I just recently wrote a review on it so I don't think I need to elaborate further.

NOW I'm reading the second standalone book in this triology/series about the world of Pell. I've already read both the first and the third book, so I thought I better get this one read too. Since they are standalone it doesn't matter what order they are read in, but some characters are in the other books which could be a spoiler. Depends on how good yout memory is, haha. These books are a bit silly but entertaining. The third book ("The Princess Beard") is the best though! I don't know if more books taking place in this world is coming or not, so don't know if it's a triology or a series.

NEXT is alway a mystery. I'm a mood reader and can't  stand TBR lists and stuff. I would go nuts. I need my freedom and being able to chose then and there what to read next. I'd probably read less otherwise. I'm pretty anti demands, no matter if they come from myself or others.

Kill the Farm Boy.

Handling: En grupp av missanpassade personer har fått i uppdrag att färdas land och rike runt i det magiska kungariket Pell. Gruppen består av en sorts halvkvinna/halvkanin, en krigare i ringbrynjebikini, en lönnmördare som är livrädd för höns, en talande get och en "mörk" trollkarl. De har slagit följe för att konfrontera en viss sandhäxa, hon har nämligen påverkat dem allihopa på ett eller annat sätt och nu kräver de svar!
Men istället för att få det de vill ha hamnar de istället på ännu ett äventyr tillsammans med sandhäxa och det går väl lite sådär...


Min åsikt om boken: Jag läste ju "The Princess Beard" först, men den är egentligen den 3:e (fristående) boken om Pell. Det spelar ingen roll vilken ordning man läser dem i men! Jag skulle ändå rekommendera att börja med den här boken faktiskt. Orsaken till det är att 3:e boken var ofantligt rolig, så då har man en viss förväntan på de övriga böckerna och de kanske inte riktigt håller måttet. Därför var inte den här riktigt lika rolig, men det är också den första boken som den här författarduon skrev och det blir ju uppenbarligen bättre och bättre eftersom 3:an är grym. Komedin finns här men den är inte lika klockren och dräpande som "The Princess Beard" och karaktärerna känns inte heller lika utvecklade. Boken var helt ok, men lite seg emellanåt. Vissa inslag kändes lite meningslösa och den röda tråden var inte så tydlig. Dock tyckte jag det var underhållande att författarna driver med den manliga power fantasy-grejen. Att det alltid är en manlig hjälte som räddar allt och alla. Att han alltid kommer från typ slummen eller landet och att han är den Utvalde. I den här boken går det inte så bra för den utvalde, så att säga. Det var kul och lite otippat!

Story: A group of misfits has gotten a mission to travel the magical kingdom of Pell. The group consists of a half woman/half rabbit, a warrior in a chainmail bikini, an assassin who fears chickens, a talking goat and a "dark" wizard. They have joined together to confront a certain sand witch because she has affected them all in one way or another and now they demand answers!
But instead of getting what they want they are headed out on yet another adventure with the sand witch and things doesn't really go smoothly...

My opinion about the book: I read "The Princess Beard", first but it's really the third (stand alone) book about Pell. It doesn't matter the order you read them in but! I would recommend to start with this book actually. The reason for that is that the third book is hilarious, so you'll have certain expectations on the other two books and they might not reach all the way. That's why this books wasn't as funny, but it's also the first book this duo wrote and they obviously got a lot better since the third book is great. The comedy is present here but it's not as witty and awesome as in "The Princess Beard" and the characters doesn't feel as evolved. The book is alright, a bit slow at times. Some elements felt a bit useless and the red thread is not all that clear. I did however like that they make fun of the male power fantasy thing. That there always has to be a male hero who saves everything and everyone. That he's always from the slum or the country and that he is the Chosen one. In this book it doesn't go well for the chosen one, to say the least. That was fun and a little unexpected!

Handling: En dag vaknar en prinsessa upp efter en väldigt lång sömn, men istället för en prins ser hon bara sina överväxta naglar och enormt långa hår, vilket var äckligt men också bättre än en läskig prins som tar för sig utan samtycke. Prinsessan använder sig av sina flätor för att fly tornet men behåller sitt jättelånga skägg som förklädnad. Hon antar också ett nytt namn och hoppas att ingen ska känna igen henne när hon bär skägg och går under namnet Morgan.

Väl på rymmen möter Morgan en snäll bonde som kör in henne till närmsta stad där det går till en restaurang för att äta. Morgan är lite misstänksam mot köttet de serverar, eftersom det bara heter "EATUM" och ingen verkar veta vad det består av, men innan hon hinner tänka närmare på det möter hon en papegoja som är kapten över ett skepp som heter "The Puffy Peach". Morgan tar värvning direkt för att komma bort men där möter hon även en brokig skara varelser, t.ex. dryaden Tempest som vill bli advokat innan hon förvandlas till ett människoätande träd, halvalven Al som vill bli den nya S'narchivisten istället för att sälja fejkalvgrejer till människor och kentauren Vic, som är så supermacho att man vill mörda honom men som kan trolla fram bakelser helt random. Vad alla har gemensamt är att de vill bort ifrån något och att de alla tror att de vet vad de vill göra i framtiden men sanningen är egentligen något helt annat.


Min åsikt om boken: Det här är en av de roligaste böcker jag har läst! Jag skrattade högt flera gånger och älskade både författarnas fantasi och namn på saker och ting. T.ex. ett par öar som hette Mack Guyverr, en fiende vid namn Ramekin Cloudwalker (Anakin Skywalker), en besättningsman som hette Qurt Qobayne m.m. Jag älskar att de tar till extrema saker och mixar dem med varandra, karaktären Vic är ett sådant typexempel. En muskulös kentaur som gör allt för att verka vara så manlig och macho som möjligt samtidigt som han kan trolla fram bakelser. Alltså små kakor, fina tårtor, téer och liknande. Det hör liksom inte ihop men blir så himla bra tillsammans. Berättelser är rolig, knasig och intressant. Det händer saker hela tiden och man har slängt in komiska inslag lite här och var, från smått till stort, vilket gör att läsningen känns som en härlig berg- och dalbanetur! En oerhört bra och nytänkande bok som jag verkligen kan rekommendera!

Story: One day a princess wakes up after a long sleep, but instead of a prince all she sees is her overgrown nails and long hair, which is disgusting but also better than a creepy prince doing things without consent. The princess uses her braids to escape the towert but keeps her very long beard as a disguise. She also takes on a new name and hopes no one will recognise her wearing a beard and the name of Morgan.

While on the run Morgan meets a friendly farmer that takes her to the nearest city, where they go to a restaurant to eat. Morgan is a bit suspicious of the meat they serve, because it's simply called "EATUM" and no one seems to know what it's made of. But before she can think any longer on the mysterious meat she meets a parrot that's captain of the boat "The Puffy Peach". Morgan joins the crew right away to get away and there she also meets a weird array of creatures, like the dryad Tempest what wants to become a lawyer before she turns into a man eating tree, the half elf Al that wants to be the new S'narchivist instead of selling fake elf things to people and the centaur Vic, who's so super macho that you want to kill him but that can also conjure baked goods at random. What they all have in common is that they want to get away from something and that they all think they know what they want to do in the future, but the truth is something else.

My opinion of the book: This is one of the funniest books I've read! I laughed out loud several times and loved the authors' imagination and name of things. Like the island of Mack Guyverr, an enemy by the name of Ramekin Cloudwalker (Anakin Skywalker), a crew member by the name of Qurt Qobayne and so on. I loved that the took extreme things and mixed them together, which the character Vic is a great example of. A really muscular centaur that does everything to seem to be so manly and macho as possible but that can also use magic to create cookies, pretty cakes, teas and stuff. They don't belong together but they just fit! The story is fun, quirky and interesting. Stuff is happening non stop and they've thrown in some comedic stuff here and there, which makes the reading feel like a nice ride on a rollercoaster! A very good and original book that I really recommend!
